Steam
Engine Paddy

Biography
"Steam Engine Paddy", AKA Pat McInnis
is the son, and the grandson of railroad men. He even worked on the
railroad for a short period in the late 40’s.
Now retired, he spends a great deal of his time reading and
singing about the "iron horse” and what it meant
to this great country of ours.
Among his songs are originals written over the past couple of
years, plus many traditional and contemporary favorites.
He was born in Wisconsin in 1932 and spent
his early years in various SOO LINE
railroad towns in that state
Pat went to high school in Stevens Point
Wisconsin, then joined the Navy, and served on Minesweepers as an
Electronic Technician. A degree from the University of Wisconsin followed,
and he came to Arizona in 1960 with his wife and two children.
Pat has been married for 48
years and has 5 children and 15 grandchildren all living in the
Phoenix east valley.
Railroad Songs
We forget how important the railroad was to
this country. From the mid 1800's to the mid 1900's the railroad defined
the growth and character of the United States.
Railroad songs tell a lot about this
country, and "Steam Engine Paddy" tries to put meaning into all his songs.
He does
this by describing the circumstance, and thoughts behind his original
songs, and the background and stories for songs that come from this
nations history.
"Steam Engine" sings songs he has written
either of his own experiences, memories, or thoughts about the railroads
he has known. He also sings songs about what he
has read in the pursuit of railroad history.
Always, he
tries to relate the songs and stories to the actual events that brought
about these bits of history.
Every song has a source, and
"Steam Engine" brings you the stories behind the songs.

My
wife's home town is
Marshfield, Wisconsin.
There is
a park on the south side of town called "Wildwood Park." At the entrance
to this park is a Steam Engine with the number 2442 on its side. The
engine is beautiful, being kept up by a city proud of its railroad
heritage.
I wrote
this song, "Steam
Engine In The Park", in
1999. It is about old 2442, but it was in memory of all the steam engines
that did there jobs from the early 1800s to around 1950 that I dedicate
this song.
